Coast Redwood High School is focused on student achievement and accountability, and PARENT involvement is integral to student success in our program. Coast Redwood High School is not a stand-alone "independent study track program," but is a Charter School high school- home school program.
Parents must oversee their student in the role of an education facilitator and Learning Coach who are to:
Ensure that all weekly assignments are being completed
Ensure their student is attending their weekly or monthly meetings with their ST
Ensure you as parents are attending the required monthly attendance meetings as requested by their ST
Ensure you are available to your student for further home school instruction on all assignments and projects with education support in:
Cornell note taking
life skills, and time management skills.
SERVING AS A LEARNING COACH
We strongly recommend that a PARENT be available at home with their teen, or that another responsible adult is designated to serve as the student's Learning Coach.
Coast Redwood High School is not a student self-study program; students need supervision to benefit fully from our program.
As part of our commitment to quality education, PARENTS sign a document to acknowledge their responsibilities.
ATTENDANCE REPORTING AND WORK SAMPLES
Every 15-20 days, the PARENT(S) will submit to their students' Supervising Teacher the following materials for full attendance, credits and hours:
1. Monthly attendance ledger with the PARENT(S) initials that align with the their students' planner sheets, that aligns to the work samples with noted dates (links to the monthly attendance ledgers on this page to be downloaded) Due dates are printed on the ledger.
2. Student work samples with name and dates that align to the planner sheets (4+ from each academic area noted on the students' semester plan).
3. Completed planner sheets that align to the students work samples noting 4+ hours each day
Coast Redwood High School requires 4 work samples from each of the educational areas noted on your students' semester planning sheet each month.
*PARENTS - As always, discuss with your supervising teacher, if modifications to your students' semester plan and goals need to be made, while understanding, that your student must maintain adequate progress remains essential.
