Fort Ord is offering Fort Ord army/calvary alumni scholarships to students who attend Cal State University, Monterey Bay! Hundreds of veterans and civilians have lived, trained and worked at Fort Ord since its founding in 1917. From Calvary units who trained at Camp Gigling during the 1930's through the recruits who completed  their basic training during the mid-part of the century up to the light fighter division of the 1980's and 1990's.

Ask your grandparents if they were ever stationed at Fort Ord. It is worth a $1,000.00 scholarship.

Santa Cruz Elks Lodge - Most Valuable Student Scholarships - Deadline Date: 12/6/13

The P.E.O. Horatio Alger California Scholarship Program
The Horatio Alger California Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to students in the State of California who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity and who aspire to pursue higher education.

  • be enrolled full time as a high school senior in California, and planning to enter college after graduation

Diller Teen tikkun Olam Award - Deadline Date: 1/6/13

This award celebrates Jewish teens who have demonstrated remarkable leadership and are actively engaged in projects which embody the values of tikkun olam (repair of the world). Up to ten recipients will be awarded $36,000 for their college education or to further implement their vision for making the world a better place.


California Association of Collectors Education Scholarship Foundation - Deadline Date: 1/15/13
The scholarship requires a simple one-page application and an essay on "The Importance of Establishing and Maintaining Good Financial Credit During Your College Years". $1 Million in Scholarships
This year the Best Buy Scholarship Program will award 1,200 scholarships of $1,000 each to students in grades 9-12 living in the U.S. or Puerto Rico who plan to enter a full-time undergraduate course of study upon high school graduation. Jimmie Cox Memorial Scholarship - Deadline Date: 2/27/13
$4,000 award for a student entering or currently attending college and majoring in agriculture. Starting in 2012, the American AgCredit Scholarship Program has parnered with Jimmie Cox and will give an additional $2,000 award to the winner. This award will be allocated for the remaining years in college with verification of registration for each session of full time classess. Students must live either in Santa Cruz County or within the Pajaro Valley Unifified School District boundaries, or be a current member of the Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau. Selection will be based on the student's scholastic record, agricultural potential, special activities, personal history, letters of recommendation and financial need. San Jose Scottish Rite Foundation Scholarship Program – Deadline Date: 3/1/13
The San Jose Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is part of a worldwide fraternal order devoted to fellowship, high ideals, community service and charitable works. Student must be a graduating senior with a minimum GPA of 3.5,  a demonstrated financial need, a fully completed application form submitted on time with resume, recommendation, and written prompts. Sons of Italy – Deadline Date: 3/1/13
The Sons of Italy Western Foundation and the Grand Lodge of California, Order Sons of Italy in America, are proud to provide college scholarships to eligible students. These scholarships range from $500.00 to $5,000.00. Additionally, Italian Language Study Grants are available for a one-month complete immersion course in Italian language at an Italian College. Scholarships will be awarded to students graduating from public or private high schools in California, Nevada, and Klamath Falls, Oregon. Applicants must be wholly or partly of Italian ancestry. For the Italian Language Study Grant, applicants must also have completed a foreign language course in high school. Selection will be based on scholastic record, activities evidencing leadership, financial need, written personal goals statement, Essay of Italian Origin, and letters of recommendation. The Cabrillo College Foundation is offering scholarships to encourage SC County High School Seniors to begin their college education at Cabrillo College. Italian Catholic Federation – Deadline Date: 3/15/13
The Italian Catholic Federation receives nearly 400 applications for its yearly scholarship awards. Applications are received from students in public as well as Catholic high schools in California, Arizona, Nevada, and Illinois. To apply, students must be of the Catholic faith and of Italian heritage (or children or grand children of non-Italian ICF members) and meet academic, financial need, and character requirements. First year scholarships in the amount of $400 will be awarded to approximately 200 applicants.

Rotary Club of San Lorenzo Valley Scholarship Program –

Mike Smith Kiwanis Scholarship - Deadline Date: 3/29/13
The purpose of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance for post secondary education to senior High School students of Northern Santa Cruz County, who demonstrate exemplary academic and civic values and to promote the reputation of the Kiwanis Club within the community. The value of the scholarship shall not exceed $2,500. Applications should submit a letter, which must be presented in 10, 11 or 12 point type on plain white paper. It should not exceed 1000 words in length. You must attach a transcript of record from high school and list the classes for which grades have not been recorded. Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group/Pre-Med Scholarship - Deadline Date: 4/15/13
The Palo Alto Foundation Medical Group (PAFMG) Pre-Medical Scholarship is awarded to deserving local high school students who attend a four-year college and plan to pursue careers as doctors. The scholarship was started by Richard Babb, M.D., who was a gastroenterologist at our Palo Alto Clinic, and is funded in full by our doctors. Since Dr. Babb started the program in 1993, our doctors have awarded more than 33 scholarships to local students. Scholarships are $5,000 a year (a total of $20,000 per recipient).

The Omega Nu Scholarship program is one of the largest in Santa Cruz County. The program was established in 1957 to assist qualified students who are planning to attend public California universities or colleges. Hellenic Cultural Institute, California Central Coast - Deadline Date: 4/15/13
The institute offers scholarships to high school students of the Central Coast, who have demonstrated an interest in the area of Hellenic History and Civilization, by way of Greek literature, drama, poetry, and the arts, as well as other aspects of Greek culture. 3.0 and above, brief biographical sketch and application, minimum 500 word essay on "Ancient Grekkk Architecture as Seen in the Modern World ". Brad Hubbard, Wayne Richards Memorial Scholarship Fund – Deadline Date: 4/30/13
The Wayne Richards Memorial Scholarship Committee is announcing its scholarship benefiting varsity student-athletes from a high school in Santa Cruz County. There will be four scholarships awarded - one to a male student-athlete for $1,000, one to a female student-athlete for $1,000 and 2 additional scholarships for $500 each.
