Summer Leadership Training - SLV Delegate Needed!
  • For Juniors: Are you interested in participating in a 5-day Youth Leadership training this summer? 
  • Applications can be found here
  • All Applications are Due February 23rd to Charlotte in Counseling
 

Cabrillo Running Start Preparation has Begun!
  • Seniors who intend (or have as their Backup) Cabrillo College in the Fall need to participate in Running Start!
  • Running Start Checklist can be found here
  • Step-by-Step Running Start Guide can be found here.
  • Running Start Assessment Day is March 2nd
    • In order to attend, you need to send to Charlotte:
      • Cabrillo Student Id Number (All Numerals, will come in Web reg email)
      • Print out or Picture of Orientation Certificate
      • Once these have been turned in, you will get a field trip form.
  • Cabrillo Scholarships:
    • The Cabrillo College High School Scholarship
      Due: March 23rd, 2018
      Requirements:
      • Must submit an unofficial copy of your transcript (Email me to get this)
      • Must intend on taking 12 units in the Fall at Cabrillo
      • Complete the Online Application

      Valley Women's Cabrillo Scholarship (Just for SLV Students!)
      Due: April 26th
      Requirements:
      • Must be a resident of San Lorenzo Valley area 
      • Must intend on taking 12 units in the Fall at Cabrillo
      • Must provide the following:
        • Unofficial Copy of your Transcripts (Email me to get this)
        • Personal Statement
        • 2 Letters of Recommendation

  • The SLVHS Scholarship Web page is updated with our Local Scholarships Applications.
  • The Scholarship Tree has blossomed in the counseling office! (right next to Charlotte's Desk) This is another source to Pick up applications!


FAFSA Deadline is March 2nd

  • March 2nd is the last day to submit your FAFSA for Priority consideration, along with being considered for some scholarships.
  • Need FAFSA Help? Cabrillo is offering a final FAFSA Workshop on Wednesday, February 21st from 3 to 6 pm on the Aptos Campus in SAC West 202

Summer Experiences

Looking to do something fun this summer? Different Universities offer summer experiences, for an ever-growing list of opportunities, click here! Applications are usually due before April so now is the time to check these out!


Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
  • Volunteer Work Day at Loch Lomond Recreation Area
    • February 24th, 2018 from 10 - 1:30 pm
    • Tokens for a free 1 hr boat rental will be given to all volunteers
    • To sign up, email:  ARichman@cityofsantacruz.com
    • What to bring: Clothing appropriate for an afternoon of outdoor work, check the weather and dress in layers. Long pants and long sleeves recommended. Wear sturdy and comfortable close-toed shoes. Bring a hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and a water bottle. Bring your favorite work gloves if you’d like, we will have some to borrow if needed. Extra water and light snacks will be provided.

  • YMCA Camp Campbell
    • Seeking volunteers for an upcoming aquatics program. The program is called Safety Around Water (SAW) and is a national YMCA program designed to teach basic water safety skills to youth who have little or no previous swim lesson experience. 
    • We will be running 1-hour classes in three different sessions:
      • March 12, 19, 26, April 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 1:30-2:30 pm
      • April 3-6 from 12:30- 1:30 pm
      • June 19-22, 26-29 from 12-1 pm
